Penguins are HOT at Cambridge Classic!

It was a HOT day in and out of the water at the Cambridge Classic on Saturday!  The Penguins scored over 3,000 points and swam away with FIRST PLACE.   PBs were a little more difficult to swim in the heat (remember we’re Penguins) and in the longer pool, but the swimmers finished with 112 PBs which brings our Summer PB Count to 721!!   These swimmers were HOT, HOT, HOT as they earned a PB in every event they swam at Cambridge: Allison Kenny, R J LaRosa, Caitlin McConaghy, Martina Peroni, and Sydney Weis had a PB Sweep.

Hmmm, it could happen – we could swim 1,000 PBs for the first time during a summer season!!

Age Group High Point Trophies were awarded to the following swimmers:  1st Place – Martina Peroni  (6 & Un Girls); 1st Place – John Bently (8 & Un Boys); Runner-Up – Preston Kuriger (8 & Un Boys); 1st Place – Ally Braun (9-10 Girls); Runner-Up – Rachel Peroni (9-10 Girls); 1st Place – Ben Kuriger (9-10 Boys); 1st Place – Abbigale Newman (11-12 Girls); Runner-Up – Colleen Jaycox (11-12 Girls); Runner-Up – Cameron Hiltner (13-14 Girls); and Runner-Up – Matthew McMahon (15-18 Boys).  All meet awards will be available at Sunday’s practice.  Parents – If you would like to help sort the awards, you are welcome during the Sunday practice.

There was one new team record set during the meet.  Ben Kuriger broke his own 50 free record for the 9-10 Boys with a time of 29.98 (finally breaking 30)!

After the meet, approximately 50 swimmers and parents enjoyed dinner and PIE at Theo’s in downtown Cambridge!

Great Job Penguins and Thank You to all our parents who officiated and timed during the meet.
